BIO
Dom Famularo was more than just a phenomenal drummer—he was a beloved educator, motivator, and drumming’s greatest ambassador. With an energy that filled every room and a passion that lit up every stage, Dom’s influence extended far beyond his own performances, touching countless lives in the drumming community worldwide.
Born in Long Island, New York, Dom began playing drums at age 11 and was teaching by 17. While his own chops were undeniably world-class—blending jazz, rock, and fusion with astonishing speed and fluidity—it was his work as a drum educator and speaker that defined his legacy. He studied under legends like Jim Chapin and Joe Morello and went on to develop a teaching approach that emphasized technique, musicality, and—most importantly—positivity.
Dom traveled to over 60 countries throughout his career, delivering clinics, lessons, and motivational talks that were as inspiring as they were educational. His infectious enthusiasm, larger-than-life personality, and deep technical understanding made him a mentor to thousands of drummers of all levels. Whether on a major festival stage or in a one-on-one lesson, Dom gave his all.
He authored and co-authored several important instructional books, including It’s Your Move and The Cycle, and appeared in countless videos, magazines, and interviews. He also worked as an educational consultant for several major drum companies and hosted events like The Sessions, a series of interviews and panel discussions that featured top names in the industry.
Even off the drum kit, Dom was a force of positivity and encouragement. His motto, “Live your passion,” wasn’t just a catchphrase—it was a way of life. Dom Famularo passed away in 2023, leaving behind an unmatched legacy of joy, education, and rhythm.
